In 2004 Kevin and Debby were at peace in their roles at the River of Life Family Church. Kevin served as pastor and teacher with Debby helping him in ministry and serving on the prophetic and intercessory teams.

Then Bishops Jack and Deniese Mott began asking if the Lord was preparing them for greater things. Shortly after, Finland came into view.

God had spoken to Kevin to pray for Finland in 1993. He prayed for Finland until 1998. In that year Rapha Ministries International began to send ministry teams to Finland. The intercessory team Kevin and Debby were a part of began to do serious intercession for Finland. God revealed to them that He would release revival fires all over Finland.

By early 2004 Debby knew that she and Kevin were to move to Finland to live and to teach the word. She said nothing to Kevin, waiting for God to show him. They joined a Rapha Ministries team that traveled to Finland in October 2004. As they finished this six week trip and headed to the airport Jesus showed Kevin a vision. The Lord was standing on a grassy plain with His hand open to take Kevin’s hand and bring him and Debby to Finland. He knew then that God had opened Finland to them. The Lord had just spoken through Debby to a few Gypsies in northern Finland that she and Kevin would return to live in Finland before the end of 2005.

In Kevin’s mind for this to occur, God would have to move in a major way. They had nine adult cats to find good homes for, two other families lived in their home that needed places to live, they had considerable debt to pay off, their house was not ready to sell and the housing market forecast a sale of only enough to pay off the house and the cost of repairs. Much of the debt would still remain.

Debby has always been willing to go with God wherever He led them. But she also needed Him to do a work in her heart. She loved her home, her nine cats and their three children now had 6 grandchildren with a 7th on the way. Could she sacrifice them and go with Him now? She came to peace knowing God would take care of her children and grandchildren and she could give up her home. Yet somehow the cats were more vulnerable in her mind. Who would take them? God touched her heart and she became willing to sacrifice them. He then promised good homes for each one.

The Lord moved. He provided good homes for all nine cats in December 2004. Both young families found good housing in February 2005. The Lord used a hurricane to provide finances to prepare their house for sale and the housing market shot up and up. They sold their house in May 2005 at a price to pay all their debt with enough left over to invest in a condominium which has stayed fully rented since they moved to Finland.

However the greatest thing God would do still lay ahead of them. By June of 2005 they knew that they were financially and logistically ready to make the move. A few other miracles would yet occur. But there was one bit of unfinished business that Kevin knew he had to trust God to do in his own heart.

Over the previous eight years Kevin had become very strong and locally well known in the ministry of inner healing. There were miracles and an abundance of good fruit with people set free. Yet Finland did not need the Lord to send another inner healing team. Such ministries are sufficiently available in Finland. God had a greater work to do in Kevin so he could be used by God in a greater way than inner healing.

The challenge for Kevin was not so much gaining the revelation of this deeper work. It was submitting to God to let go of the ministry he was very comfortable in so God could use him in a greater way. Kevin did not know how attached he was to the inner healing ministry until the Lord used Jack Mott to ask him to give it up. As Abraham took Isaac up Mount Moriah, Kevin had to sacrifice the ministry in which he had become personally identified. It felt like Jack had asked him to give up his reason for being.

In truth, anything we become identified with other than Jesus, even wonderful ministry, must be sacrificed. Christ in us is our only hope of glory. Let everything else be sacrificed.

So it was that Kevin agreed with God and gave up the ministry of inner healing. Now, what he and Debby bring to Finland, is Christ and Him crucified. God is restoring apostolic authority to the body of Christ. This is what Kevin and Debby are bringing to Finland. It is this authority that enables them to see what is in the heart of God’s people that must be sacrificed so they can rise up and walk in the Spirit and the love of God; fulfilling God’s purpose in His creation of each one.
